Beachside Florida Breakfast, Marco Island Restaurants, FL Dining Reviews
Someone asked me recently "Why should I consider visiting Marco Island, Florida. I looked at them in utter disbelief. They did not know why, after all isn't Marco Island the most wonderful place in the very best region of Gulf Coast Florida? Yes of course it is. At the very top of the Everglades - is where you will find America's Island Paradise, Marco Island, FL.

Well I might just be a tiny bit prejudice, however, consider the 3 1/2 miles of pristine shell beaches surrounded by the blue green waters of the Gulf of Mexico that gently merge in the warm tropical sun. Well that should tell you a lot. Just the ease of getting around the island by car, bike, boat or even motor scooter takes you away from all of the traffic jams and blaring horns of everyday life. The speed limit on the island is 35mph this says it all. Slow down, take it easy and enjoy the Florida sunshine.

However, once you have relaxed then you must think about kicking back and enjoying the foods of the island. Superb dining options are a vital part of any great destination and fortunately Marco Island has a fantastic selection of phenomenal restaurants and chefs. There are so many wonderful places to dine in, take out or semi prepared and ready for your home cooking touches.

South Florida Dining:  Marco Island Restaurant Favorites / 2009 - 2010:

Tara Steak & Lobster House, now at The Esplanade Dining both inside and outside (be aware some night they have bands outside near the restaurant). Tara's still features the same great selections as before including her sides of damn good spinach and outrageous Mac and Cheese. The atmosphere has changed a bit, with two full sides of window looking out at the magnificent channel with large yachts. The bar area is much larger and they now offer a taps menu.

Capt. Brien's Seafood & Raw Bar, located on South Collier. Fried scallops the melt in your mouth, a raw bar with oysters from around the world, and this is one restaurant that serves fresh seafood. "New England seafood is flown in daily, fresh off the boats of local fishing fleets." Feel like your are in New England with Lobster, Clams, Shrimp, the raw bar and several landlubber selections as well. Try the Key Lime Pie, voted best on the island for 2009.

House of Mozart, in the Shops of Marco serves wonderful mouthwatering selections of Austrian and /German style food. Choose Wiener schnitzel, Goulash, Bratwurst or Beef 'Stroganoff'. Many of these serves with homemade spaetzle and marinated red cabbage. Many other selections of Steak, Sole, Snapper, Shrimp and a few classic Italian dishes as well. Early bird special are extremely reasonable.

Arturo's, has been one our Marco favorites for years. Dine on classic Italian food. When you are too tired to dine out - call Arturo's Restaurant between 4:30 and 5:30pm and you receive a discount for picking up your order before 5:30. Whether inside or "to-go" you will not be disapointed. Large servings and authentic Italian favorites.

So. FL  Dining: Marco Island Restaurants 2009 :

Su's Garden, on Bald Eagle. Su's offers a very nice selection of Chinese cuisine. Su's has been around since 1984, and this is why we always make sure that we have lunch or dinner there. The selection of entrees range from chicken, pork, beef, seafood, duck, fish and vegetarian. When you need a break from the sun and surf. Visit Su's Garden a Marco Island Chinese Restaurant.

Joey's Pizza & Pasta House, Collier Blvd. Joey's offer a selection of New York and Chicago Style Pizza; this is a great family type restaurant with and a new outside open bar, lots of TV for sports and a friendly atmosphere. Joey's also has a take out window which is really handy. I really enjoy Joey's food, especially the desserts. Authentic homemade Italian dessert that I sometimes I just order to "take out".

Marco Polo Restaurant, just off the beaten path on Marco Lake Drive. The Marco Polo has been operated for decades. This is classic, dinner club dining. All dinners are complete with salad, starch and, veggie. No al a cart hidden charges. This menu is diverse with an emphasis on seafood. You'll find Dover Sole, Duck, Lamb, my favorite Baked Stuffed Shrimp, Snook, Lobster, Chicken, Steaks and Grouper. Then the desserts....be sure to save room. Banana Fosters, Cherry Jubilee, Crème Brulee and more. One night you should not be on a diet. As we left the restaurant I was presented with a Rose - a delightful end to a wonderful evening.

I really enjoy Joey's food but I love the desserts. Authentic homemade choices that I sometimes I just order to "take out".

And...If you just want to take home something from the sea (a bit of land too) Visit the Paradise Seafood Market. This is a wonderful fish market with all the fixing. The crab cakes are outstanding, the mustard sauce for the stone crabs you can use on all your seafood, the stuffed Sole melts in you mouth and that is just a start to all the case holds, Snapper, grouper, snook, halibut, swordfish, shrimp, blue fish, tuna and more. They also have frozen appetizers, soups, select rice, crackers, condiments and desserts.
